As at February 2012, Sewaid has no plans in place to visit India in the immediate future.
I am also hoping to visit the Easy Coast of India, which was also badly hit by the Tsunami. Rotary clubs in this area have already put together a sewing machine program with 652 treadle machines being supplied on the one day! (see photo) Wow!! They want to do another program with up to 1,000 machines. What I would like to know is, who teaches the recipients of the machines to sew, or do they already know how to sew from school, parents etc? I'll find out!
In 2005, 652 treadle sewing machines were distributed and we may want to start a similar program in another area. I am planning to travel to India to see the results of the 2005 program and assess its success.

After the Tsunami, Sydney Rotary clubs shipped over many containers of supplies and we were able to give them some fabric and other sewing supplies, which we have since heard was very much appreciated. Sri Lanka also is a country which has asked for our Sew+aid program.
